To achieve the best lawn in the neighborhood it must be maintained correctly on a regular basis. No other activity is as important for the best lawn than mowing correctly. In the Spring when the weather is cooler and wetter it is permissible to keep your grass shorter than you normally would when the weather heats up and things begin to dry.

Spring is usually wet and therefore the amount of water needed is much less that the Summer months to maintain the best lawn. During most weeks you will not even have to worry about watering your lawn. The main thing to understand is that it is not about how long you should water your lawn but how much water is sufficient for your lawn.

Here is where things begin to get a bit tricky. Over fertilization will cause your lawn to grow out of control and deplete itself of the nutrients you are trying to develop within the grass. Under fertilization, while not as costly, will leave your lawn behind your neighbors in color and thickness.
